Privacy Policy for NammaRide
Effective Date: August 20, 2026. NammaRide ("the Application") is an independent transit application engineered and maintained by Tushar Jain (tusharjain.in). This Privacy Policy discloses our data protection practices and confirms our complete adherence to global privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and the Google Play Developer Data Safety Policies.
1. No Personal Identity Collection
NammaRide strictly operates without user registration, authentication, or profile creation. We do not collect or store Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as full names, email addresses, phone numbers, device IDs, or financial information.
2. Transient On-Device Geolocation
Precise location data (`ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION`) is accessed exclusively in real-time to compute distance to nearby Namma Metro stations and trigger arrival vibration cues. Geolocation data is processed ephemerally on-device and is never transmitted, stored, or uploaded to external servers.
3. Offline-First Deterministic Engine
All metro route graphs, fare calculations, station timetables, landmark imagery, and institutional guides reside natively inside the app bundle. The app provides 100% functionality deep underground inside metro tunnels without network dependency.
4. Zero Third-Party Advertising & Trackers
NammaRide contains no third-party advertising SDKs, analytical trackers (such as Google Analytics or Firebase Telemetry), or social media tracking pixels. Your commute history and search queries remain 100% private to your device.
Comprehensive Privacy & Permission Declarations
A. Android OS Permissions Declared
- `android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION`: Used solely for calculating the commuter's proximity to the nearest metro station and triggering arrival haptic feedback. This permission is optional; users can reject location access and manually select stations.
- `android.permission.VIBRATE`: Used to trigger subtle haptic vibration patterns upon arrival at target transit stations during offline trip tracking.
B. Local Storage & Cookies Disclosure
NammaRide uses HTML5 `localStorage` and `sessionStorage` strictly to maintain application state on your device (e.g., active theme preference and chosen language). No HTTP cookies, session tokens, or unique device fingerprints are collected or stored.
C. Children's Online Privacy Protection (COPPA Compliance)
NammaRide is designed for general audiences and complies fully with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). Because NammaRide does not collect any personal information from any user, it does not collect or harvest data from children under the age of 13.
D. Data Retention & Deletion Policy
Because NammaRide does not collect, store, or transmit user data to remote servers, there is no remote user data retained. Clearing application data or uninstalling the app permanently purges all locally saved preferences from your device.

NammaRide is an independent transit application developed by Tushar Jain for community benefit and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or officially connected with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
